March 2016

The Lodge at Kinloch, created by the much-awarded owners of Treetops Lodge & Estate, is open. Delivering enticing new heights of golfing escape to discerning lovers of natural beauty and of cutting-edge design, and complementing a spectacular, on-site 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, only adding to the allure.

The Lodge at Kinloch features sparkling one-bedroom junior suites and luxurious one and two bedroom villas in an exclusive, landscaped setting with views over the course to Lake Taupo, the scenic hub of New Zealand’s North Island. Inspired to harmonize with the magnificent 18-hole lakeside links by Jack Nicklaus, the villas were designed by Andrew Patterson, perhaps New Zealand’s best internationally known and published architect.

Interiors are skilled by Virginia Fisher, THE New Zealand lodge designer, and feature her signature expansive spaces, huge log fireplaces, vista windows, stunning designer details, furnished terraces and sensational bathrooms. “My vision was a baronial feel of lush textures – velvet, fox fur, brass and copper but upon modern calm of whitewash, light and airy,” commented Ms. Fisher.

A world-class restaurant using produce reared from the private 2,000 ha owners estate adheres to the ‘Estate to Plate’ organic philosophy where possible, of course matched with New Zealand and worlds best wines. Complementing the internationally recognised Jack Nicklaus golf course is a resort offering excellent in-lodge and villa entertainment facilities, a spa specialising in sporting therapeutic and organic wellness treatments, tennis courts and opening late summer an infinity pool and a state-of-the-art gym

Guests will be uniquely appreciated by a full team of respected and highly experienced hospitality professionals venturing from the likes of the Amman and Six Senses Resort Chains.

More about The Kinloch Club course:

The only Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course to be built in New Zealand, Kinloch showcases a design philosophy that aims to enhance the natural environment – allowing the surroundings of the stunning Taupo region to shape each hole. The Kinloch club was voted in the top 10 new golf courses in the world by US Travel and Leisure golf magazine (the only course outside of North America to feature in that prestigious list). Although technically not a true links course, it cleverly merges aspects of both links and parkland course design.

Nicklaus uses natural features to enhance shot values so that golfers can work on every aspect of their game – an approach that has earned him an enviable reputation.

For a number of years now, The Kinloch Club is ranked #1 course in New Zealand by Andrew Whiley, NZ Golf Professional. Ranking was assisted by 22 NZ registered Golf Professionals, Tour Professionals (including Greg Turner, Michael Hendry, Grant Moorhead, Richard Lee and Fraser Wilkin), leading Golf Club Professionals, two top women golfers, top golf course Superintendents and some informed golfers. This is a true overall ranking of New Zealand golf courses from New Zealand industry leaders.
