Sustainable Food Philosophy of Nautilus Resort’s NEW Seasonal Menu

At Nautilus Resort Rarotonga  guests can now experience the new a la carte seasonal menu. The menu was  recently launched  at the 4.5-star Polynesian inspired Nautilus restaurant, located beachfront on Muri Lagoon. This popular and award-winning Rarotongan eatery adheres to sustainable food practices included in their recent Mana Tiaki 2019 environmental accreditation.

The new seasonal menu features sustainably and locally line caught fish, plus resort and village grown produce of maniota, kumara and taro (great alternative for fries), passionfruit, paw paw, papaya, pineapple, island produced vanilla, coriander root (far more intense flavor), local rukau (the leaves from the taro), greens and fresh herbs. Island favorites feature such as Ika Mata, (marinated local fish in lime juice, coconut milk and with our twist of coriander) plus popular fusion flavours of Italy and Asia – but with the freshness of local Pacific Island produce.

Previous winner of the La Chaine des Rotisserurs and Cook Islands Chefs Association Restaurant of the Year Award, Nautilus does insist that when available the local organic produce from the Cook Islands sea and land are featured on all menus.

Nautilus Resort’s food philosophy is to let guests explore and to teach guests about Cook Island native fruits, vegetables and herbs – all from the resorts ‘edible garden’ – a planting philosophy that sees abundant produce growing throughout the resort.  The resort also works closely with local villages to provide seasonal and, where possible, organic produce, as well as sustainable harvesting practices from the sea, shoreline and pasture of the Cook Islands.

A children’s menu, vegetarian options, and dietary notes for dairy/gluten/nut free diners are available.

Nautilus guests can also charge back to the resort when dining from Muri Beach Resort, the Nautilus sister resort, at their casual poolside restaurant AQUA. Located right next door on Muri Beach the 3.5-star resort’s restaurant Aqua features family favorites such as gourmet pizzas, burgers, sizzling fajitas, fresh seafood and salads.

Located pure beachfront on Rarotonga’s white-sanded Muri Beach, the Nautilus Polynesian inspired one, two- or three-bedroom villas (are) each have a private salt-water plunge pool, air conditioning, luxurious bathroom, kitchen/ette, entertainment system and big furnished patio.
