Presenting A New Gastronomic ‘Dining Room’ Experience in Taupo
The Lodge at Kinloch’s Emphasis is on 100% Pesticide Free ’Estate to Plate’ Food Philosophy.
On a recent visit to The Kinloch Club in Taupo, created by the much-awarded owners of Treetops Lodge & Estate, Rotorua, we discovered they have launched their new lodge accommodations world-class restaurant. This truly exceptional dining venue can cater for a romantic dinner for two or for a function for up to 160 people with views overlooking Lake Taupo and beyond. ‘The Dining Room’ at The Lodge at Kinloch is exceptionally well located in the Taupo region, a perfect locale to celebrate special occasions, family celebrations or private fine dining. More importantly the restaurant is using near 100% organic, estate reared produce from the private, 2,000 ha nearby owner’s property that adheres to the ‘Estate to Plate’ organic philosophy where possible, of course matched with New Zealand and the world’s best wines.
Diners at Kinloch can expect heritage varieties of indigenous and seasonal vegetables; native spinach (tetragonia), kumara, fresh turmeric, wasabi, native cress, and fruit from the estates own orchards.
Guests are encouraged to discover the estate’s garden produce, letting them respectfully pick what they wish to taste. Menus include, from their nearby sister estate, Manuka honey aviaries producing wild native comb honey of exceptional flavour, plus reared wild deer; red, fallow, sika, wapiti (elk) and water buffalo, wild pig, sheep, rabbit, pheasant, partridge, geese, duck, rainbow, and brown trout. Plus of course a selection of the very best New Zealand and world class wines.
The ‘Dining Room at The Lodge’ at Kinloch is a bold but modern calm of whitewash, light and airy with seating of banquettes and lush sofas. The bar, which harks back to a time of leather and rock surfaces, cowhide, goat fur and burnt wood flooring, is masculine and intense. For private dinners or meetings, The Den is regal – soft and warm in layered silver and gold, with slate floors and lush New Zealand designed wool rugs.
Opened in 2016, The Lodge at Kinloch presents new heights of golfing and uber-luxury lodgings to discerning lovers of natural beauty and of cutting-edge lodge design – complementing a spectacular, on-site, 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, The Kinloch Club has been voted the #1 Golf Course in New Zealand by a select team of New Zealand Golf Professionals year on year.
For casual visitors, the Clubhouse at The Kinloch Club also has a restaurant, offering more casual fare and a licensed bar.
