The Making Of A Successful New Zealand Golf Course
The Kinloch Club Tees–Up a 50% increase in Golf Rounds in the Past 12 months.
Teeing off last month at the Jack Nicklaus designed 18-hole Signature Links golf course was for me, without doubt, a golf lovers ‘utopia experience’ and without question one of the most significant reasons The Kinloch Club has seen a 50% increase in golfers in the past year. In part this is also due to the opening last summer of the new uber luxe on-site Lodge at Kinloch that offers accommodation spaces of junior suites, with 1 and 2 bedroom villas – the lodge bar and restaurant, spa, tennis courts and swimming pool – this all ensures golfers to the Kinloch Club now have a full resort style experience.
The perfectionist inspired design of the Kinloch Club designed by Jack Nicklaus is often compared to the classic links courses in both Scotland and Ireland, however, many well-travelled golfers will instead witness traditional New Zealand scenes looking across a world-class championship Par 72 greens positioned between panoramic views of Lake Taupo, New Zealand’s largest fresh-water lake and the natural beauty of rugged rural farmland. Ranked as New Zealand’s #1 golf course by a select team of New Zealand Golf Professionals, and it is the only Jack Nicklaus designed course in New Zealand.
Add the commendations of Kinloch’s Golf Director and course PGA Pro, Mr Tom Long, who has provided stable leadership from the courses inception and with the owners’ support, a dedication to constant improvement of the course, he now says.
“This past season we have re-sculpted three of our green complexes under the guidance of Nicklaus Design, have introduced a new set of tee’s which now gives the golfer four teeing options and have added prisms to all of our flagsticks for fast and accurate laser distances.”
With two high profile golf events taking place in New Zealand later in the year (The Asian Amateur Golf Championship and the LPGA Tour event), The Kinloch Club chose to delay the coring of greens until the end of April 2017 – meaning the greens will be in outstanding condition if you are planning a golfing trip to New Zealand later this year.
